TMN Simulation and Industry Newsletter - December 2011
TMN Simulation Newsletter

OK, where did 2011 go? It’s only a few weeks until Christmas and here at TMN Simulation we are still nice and busy.

Although the economy is a little unsteady, we have noticed an increase in enquiries on how Flexsim can be used to help Streamline Operations, Improve Productivity, or just help Reduce Costs.

There are so many ways simulation can be used for Efficiency gains and Process improvements; we have been having some really interesting discussion with companies across industries such as Logistics, Manufacturing, Healthcare and Education.

There is now realisation that simulation can really help keep costs down, and that’s what companies are looking for at the moment.

We would also like to congratulate Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital for a successful migration of 151 kids to their new location. You may remember in our last email that we helped them plan the move by simulating the migration.

Here are some Photos from the RCH move.

Flexsim News - Flexsimposium

Last month we attended Flexsimposium, in the US; to meet with other distributors and users of Flexsim.

It was amazing to see the many wide and varied uses for Flexsim; and had the likes of Coca Cola, Tetra Pak, Starbucks and Rio Tinto showcasing their models.

Upgrades to Flexsim GP and HC are expected early next year - we can expect some really cool stuff, including:
  • a new graphics compiler which removes the need for writing code,
  • new dashboards,
  • improved experimenter
Also, Flexsim in the Cloud is becoming a reality, we had a demo on running a model via a web browser. There's still some work required but it is very promising.

Feature YouTube Video

Augmented Reality, using Flexsim.

The video shows an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) embedded into a scene from a web-cam, and interacting with (ie. not running over) a live person.

Real-time data (eg. where the guy is) is fed into and influences the model, which in turn gets embedded into the video.

Augmented reality is where virtual objects are embedded into a video stream for understanding or visualisation, and quite often just for fun.

Model built by Flexsim's French Distributor, OP Consulting.

Flexsim Tip

You may already know that you can build, store and reuse your own libraries in Flexsim.

But did you know Flexsim is that open that you can copy and reuse most standard objects and their interfaces?

One of the few times stealing is allowed, no, encouraged.
